Canada will make it simpler for visitors to enter the country later this month by allowing travelers to take a rapid antigen test before arrival rather than a PCR test. Starting Feb. 28, fully vaccinated travelers will be able to choose between getting tested with a rapid antigen test taken the day before their flight or arrival at a land or marine border, or getting tested with a molecular test (like a PCR) taken within 72 hours of their flight or arrival, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada....

Exploring Egypt from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean is about to get a whole lot easier as the country plans to welcome its first-ever high-speed train line. The entire route will stretch 1,000 km (about 621 miles), connecting the two seas with 15 stops along the way. The first section will span 460 km (about 286 miles), linking El Alamein on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast and Ain Sokhna, Lonely Planet reports....

Grounded travelers in Finland can now indulge in the airline’s chef-created meals from the comfort of their homes. Finnair just launched meals inspired by its business class offerings in partnership with one of the country’s largest supermarket chains. The airline describes the move as an effort to both keep its catering teams working and to satisfy the wanderlust of Finns stuck at home. The airline’s Taste of Finnair meals went on sale at K-Citymarket Tammisto just outside of Helsinki on Thursday and include dishes like reindeer meatballs, arctic char, and Japanese-style teriyaki beef....

China has announced that giant pandas are no longer an endangered species, thanks to successful breeding efforts. With more than 1,800 pandas currently in the wild, the beloved animals have now been re-designated as a “vulnerable species.” “China has established a relatively complete nature reserves system,” Cui Shuhong, director of the Department of Natural Ecological Protection of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, said at a press conference, CNN reported. “Large areas of natural ecosystems have been systematically and completely protected, and wildlife habitats have been effectively improved....

Hawaii’s Gov. David Ige has extended the state’s emergency order, continuing capacity restrictions on restaurants, bars, and gatherings, and continuing to require people to wear masks indoors. The order, in effect through at least Nov. 30, does not change the state’s Safe Travels program, which allows domestic tourists to skip quarantine by showing proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test from a “trusted partner” site.
