Alaska Airlines knows that the month of March can be tough. It’s just so close to spring, yet still so far away. But, rather than wallow in our late winter pain, the airline is going to help you get to a warmer weather destination to help you bridge the winter to spring gap. Between March 3 and March 5 travelers can score tickets on Alaska Airlines for flights between California and Hawaii for under $100 one-way....

American Airlines is looking to the future as it has reintroduced international flights, is increasing its domestic service, and is looking to reopen some of its airport lounges even as coronavirus recovery efforts in the country continue. The airline, which cut about 80 percent of its domestic service and about 90 percent of international service as COVID-19 spread throughout the country and the world, is now looking ahead and says demand is slowly coming back....

As several states begin the first phases of their reopening plans, car rental companies around the country are implementing new safety procedures. Travelers who opt for car rentals at this time — perhaps for a long road trip — will find new procedures for reserving a car and increased precautions around disinfection. Hertz unveiled a new 15-step “Gold Standard Clean” procedure in its rental cars where vehicles will be marked with a “gold standard” seal across their doors, indicating they’ve been cleaned....

United Airlines has been receiving backlash after barring two teenage girls who were wearing leggings from boarding a flight on Sunday morning, as the leggings did not meet the airline’s dress code policies. A fellow traveler, Shannon Watts, posted about the occurrence on Twitter over the weekend. According to company spokesman Jonathan Guerin, the two customers were traveling with a companion and were therefore under the airline’s pass traveler category, which typically applies to free or highly discounted airline tickets for airline employees, their friends, and their family members....

A romantic trip for two sounds like the perfect Valentine’s Day — and one of the best international airlines is making it easier to book. Emirates announced its special, two-for-one fares for Valentine’s Day, according to the airline’s website. Discounted fares are applicable to both economy and business class seats. In some cases, you can get a booking for you and a loved one for as low as $878 (that’s $439 each), which is about as much as you might pay for a domestic flight from New York to Los Angeles, let alone an international flight across the world....

The Virginia plantation and former home of Confederate General Robert E. Lee. has reopened after a complete rehabilitation with a renewed focus on the stories of the 100 people who were enslaved there, according to the National Park Service. The home, Arlington House, reopened earlier this week with a brand-new visitor experience that aims to tell the stories of the slaves who were forced to work on the plantation as well as the infamous family who lived there....

Holland America Line loves Alaska, and the cruise line wants to share that love with travelers by giving away 10 free trips. The company’s “Love Letters to Alaska” sweepstakes invites travelers to expound on all the reasons they love The Last Frontier for a chance to win a weeklong Holland America Line cruise vacation in a luxury suite. To enter the contest, travelers must profess their love for Alaska and explain why they want to travel there in 250 words or less....

Princess Cruises pushed back sailings for most of its ships through December, the company said this week, extending a pause that has defined the cruising industry for much of 2020. The decision also comes as the CDC extended its “No-Sail Order” until at least October, months after the agency originally recommended Americans avoid getting on ships. “We share in our guests’ disappointment in canceling these cruises,” Jan Swartz, the president of Princess Cruises, said in a statement....
