American Airlines will allow employees to wear pins supporting Black Lives Matter on their uniforms and will design a pin of their own, the airline confirmed to Travel + Leisure. The decision came after employees saw staff at other airlines wearing the pins to support the movement and petitioned American to do the same, an airline spokeswoman said. The carrier will work with its Black Professional Network to design a pin....

A group of 39 tourists were rescued from an Icelandic glacier late Tuesday evening after a blizzard struck, according to Iceland Monitor. No injuries were reported. The tourists were taken to Langjökull glacier by the tour group Mountaineers of Iceland despite a blizzard warning and travel advisory. Some members of the group were stranded for about nine hours before being rescued. “We were told it was going to be quick and then it ended up being five and a half hours, hiding behind the snowmobile,” Nicole Smith, an American tourist, told the Daily Mail....

More than 670 million people flew on airlines in the United States last year, a significant increase from 2020 but not quite reaching pre-pandemic levels. In total, 670.4 million passengers flew on U.S. carriers in 2021, representing an 83% increase from 2020, but still 245.9 million fewer people than flew in 2019, or about a 27% decrease, Reuters reported, citing the Transportation Department. More than 100,000 people have signed up to take part in Royal Caribbean’s test sailings just days after the cruise line put out a call for volunteers.
