Every July in Roswell, you’ll find Storm Troopers, E.T.s, Transformers, Predators, USS Enterprise crew members, Men in Black, and varieties of little green men commemorating the summer of 1947. That’s when rancher Mack Brazel discovered what appeared to be the debris from an unidentified flying object northwest of town. The silver wreckage was recovered by the military from the Roswell Army Air Field, and years of speculation have ensued. However, it wasn’t really until the 1990s that interest in Roswell began to swell....

While most of us are looking forward to summer travel and warmer weather, Southwest Airlines has some travelers thinking ahead to the holiday season — releasing flights for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. On Thursday, Southwest announced on their official Twitter page that they’d opened bookings through Jan. 5, 2020. The announcement came after reports circulated that travelers would have to wait until June 20 to book holiday flights. According to the airline’s website, they plan to release flights through March 6, 2020 on July 10, but the release date is subject to change....

Cruise passengers heading to the Bahamas will soon have to show proof of vaccination before docking at a port — including on a cruise line’s private island. Starting Sept. 3, cruise ships will not be able to dock in the Bahamas unless all passengers 12 and older supply proof they are fully vaccinated, according to an emergency order issued Thursday and posted to the Bahamas Customs & Excise Department website. The order will be in effect through at least Nov....

A forthcoming Las Vegas resort is taking a huge gamble — by not offering gambling. Majestic Las Vegas is hoping to buck the very idea of Sin City by becoming a non-gambling, non-smoking luxury resort when it opens in 2024. Located on approximately six acres two blocks away from the Strip and across from the Las Vegas Convention Center, the project is set to start construction this July, according to its official site....

In a few months, Alaska Airlines passengers may have to downsize. The airline is decreasing the maximum dimensions allowed for carry-on baggage. Beginning June 4, passengers’ carry-on items must measure 22 x 14 x 9 inches (including wheels and handles). The change is a significant decrease from current measurements of 24 x 17 x 10 inches. Alaska explained that its current size allotment is “larger than most other international and domestic airlines allow” and that the change was made to “make sure that your carry-on bag will be accepted aboard all the flights within your itinerary....

In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, several U.S. cities and states have implemented travel restrictions and testing requirements for visitors, despite a lack of federal level regulations. For travelers headed to these areas, American Airlines will soon offer access to its at-home, preflight COVID-19 testing in partnership with LetsGetChecked. “We’ve made great strides to help open international travel with our testing partners, and we recognize the need for similar domestic travel solutions,” said Alison Taylor, chief customer officer for American Airlines, in a press release....
