Single-use plastic bottles are an ever-present environmental problem, and the National Park Foundation would like to do something about it with the help of Tupperware. National parks in the United States see around 300 million visitors per year, and with those visitors comes nearly 70 million pounds of waste that needs to be collected. Tupperware Brands Charitable Foundation, the non-profit arm of Tupperware Brands, announced on March 15 that it will aim to divert nearly 10 million single-use plastic bottles from national parks around the country....

UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee announced the newest additions to its list of World Heritage Sites on Sunday, including Madrid’s Retiro Park and the Trans-Iranian Railway. The nine new additions are spread throughout Europe and Asia and include locations that stand as significant contributions to the development of human culture. In addition to Retiro Park, one other Madrid monument made the list. The Paseo del Prado, a tree-lined boulevard near the park, was one of the first places in a major European city “where all citizens, without distinction of class, could enjoy leisure and a stroll,” Spain’s foreign ministry explained in a statement, according to Reuters....

Even a pandemic hasn’t been able to kill demand for elaborate world cruise itineraries. Viking, which already is scheduled to embark on one around-the-world cruise late next year, is adding another with a departure date of December 2022. The 138-day itinerary starts in Florida before sailing through the Panama Canal and along the North American West Coast. The cruise is scheduled to visit 58 ports in 28 countries, stopping overnight in Sydney, Auckland, Bali, Mumbai, and Ho Chi Minh City....

Richard Branson’s cruise line, Virgin Voyages, is taking their sustainability ethos one step further by having guests use bracelets made from recycled ocean plastic in place of key cards. The bands, made in partnership with engineering company BIONIC Yarn, can be used to open cabins, board the ship, and even ensure that servers can find you for Champagne on demand when the Scarlet Lady sets sail on April 1. “The Band will be our seamless and worry-free way for Sailors to not only unlock their cabin with ease, but to explore all of the thrills and great experiences that Scarlet Lady and the rest of our fleet will have to offer,” Tom McAlpin, the CEO of Virgin Voyages, said in a statement, adding that the band “marries sustainability with smarts and style, which is quintessentially Virgin....

Passengers will now be able to drink and shower at 40,000 feet as luxury airline Emirates brings back some of its signature onboard amenities, including the famous onboard lounge, but with changes to make it safer amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline will reopen its onboard bar on its A380 for first class and business class passengers, the carrier said this week, but will make it a take-away experience with limited seating....
