A quaint Medieval town in Italy will now pay people to move there, according to CNN. Nicola Gatta, the mayor of Candela, which is located in Puglia, told the publication that he wants to bring the town back to its glory days when its streets were filled with the hustle and bustle of the thousands of residents who lived there. To do so, Gatta has decided to offer those interested in becoming residents of the town up to 2,000 euros (about $2,367) to move there....

New York City is about to bloom in a whole new way. Following the tradition of Europe’s great flower shows, such as London’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show (which started in 1913), Manhattan’s Meatpacking District will be decked out with a million blooms during the first-ever L.E.A.F. Festival of Flowers on June 12 and 13, The New York Times reported. The centerpiece will be at Gansevoort Plaza, a public, pedestrian-only square that was created in 2019....

Tourists have been flocking to the small Japanese town of Hamanaka on the eastern side of Hokkaido island to spot a rarity: sea otters in the wild. The local hotel Kawamura Ryokan has seen a growth in tourism in recent months, especially from visitors with upscale camera equipment, according to The Japan Times. The endangered creatures can be seen year-round at Cape Kiritappu, even though they’re difficult to spot in the country’s aquariums....

Craft brewing is a huge part of life in Oregon, and Portland actually has more breweries per capita than any other city in the world. The entire state has over 200 different breweries, and over 80 are in Portland alone, effectively making it one of the country’s best beer cities. California has announced a four-tiered, color-coded system for reopening businesses across the state, based on COVID-19 levels within each county. The “Blueprint For a Safer Economy” went into effect on Monday and will impact the reopening methods of multiple industries, including restaurants and hotels. Each tier is determined by the number of new cases reported in each county and the positivity percentage in testing. When a county meets the tier requirements for three consecutive weeks, it is allowed to proceed to the next....
