Acrylic barriers between Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents and travelers are popping up at airports around the country as an additional layer of protection against the spread of COVID-19. Major airports like Chicago O’Hare Airport, San Diego International Airport, and Las Vegas McCarren Airport have seen several of the protective acrylic barriers installed over the past week. More than 1,200 barriers will be installed at 37 different airports by early fall, The TSA announced....

A United Airlines flight heading to Israel was forced to turn around mid-flight after a pair of passengers tried to upgrade themselves to empty business class seats. United Flight 90, which departed Newark Liberty International Airport just after 11 p.m. on Thursday bound for Tel Aviv, was forced to turn around near the border of Maine and the Canadian province of New Brunswick “due to disruptive passengers on board,” according to FlightAware....

On Tuesday, Virgin Galactic announced that ticket sales will open to the general public on Feb. 16 for space flights taking place later this year. The open ticket sales, the company shared in a statement, will provide everyone with the chance to secure one of the first spaceflight reservations. “At Virgin Galactic, we believe that space is transformational,” Michael Colglazier, the CEO of Virgin Galactic, said....

Now, here’s a trip that’s truly out of this world! Space Perspective, which calls itself “the world’s first luxury spaceflight experience company,” announced that it has opened bookings for flights into space departing in late 2024. The cost: $125,000 per passenger. The six-hour experience will take place aboard a massive space balloon called Spaceship Neptune, which is about the size of a football stadium and has a bar and bathroom. While kicking back in plush reclining seats, passengers will sail 20 miles (about 100,000 feet) above the Earth, taking in a 360-degree view of the planet in the pressurized cabin....

Travelers who rent a car with Hertz may be driving off in a Tesla soon after the rental company ordered 100,000 vehicles from the electric car maker. Hertz said the purchase represented an initial order and it expects all the Tesla cars to be delivered by the end of 2022. Starting in November, the company will begin offering customers the chance to rent a Tesla Model 3 in major markets in the United States and select cities in Europe, according to Hertz....

Babbel, a language-learning app, teamed up with Dr. Alex Baratta, a lecturer in language, linguistics, and communications at the University of Manchester, to conduct a study that asked participants about their perceptions based on people’s accents.
