The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has created some challenges for popular attractions across the world, including Disneyland. Most recently, the theme park announced that its hotels will no longer take reservations through at least Dec. 31. According to the Orange County Register, Disneyland’s three hotels — Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, and Paradise Pier Hotel — will not accept bookings for the rest of the year, and reservations for 2021 are not yet available online....

The rules for boarding flights with your emotional support animal just got a bit stricter. The Department of Transportation (DOT) announced Wednesday that it will no longer consider emotional support animals to be service animals, allowing airlines to potentially ban them from the cabin if they do not fit established rules for pets. The DOT’s Airline Carrier Access Act (ACAA) now strictly defines a service animal as a “dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of a person with a disability....

According to Forbes, the government in Italy wants to crack down on some gelato producers who may be overly fluffing their gelato and using artificial ingredients. While fluffy mounds of ice cream look good, the Italian Senate is concerned that customers may be paying for more air that has been whipped into the product, rather than the product itself. Under these new controls imposed by the proposed bill, ice cream vendors must submit to quality control....

One of the most beloved and historical theaters in the world may not reopen after being empty for several months in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London — which has continued to stage the Bard’s famous plays, as well as other theatrical performances and tours — may be permanently closed, even after lockdown measures are lifted, CNN reported. The theater has been closed since March in accordance with stay-at-home orders in the city....

One thing is for certain: Life after coronavirus will look very different. Puerto Rico will eliminate its pre-arrival testing requirement for vaccinated travelers this week, Discover Puerto Rico shared with Travel + Leisure. According to the tourism site, pre-arrival testing will no longer be required for vaccinated visitors starting Wednesday. Currently, all travelers arriving on a domestic flight must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours of arriving. “The local government’s decision to make these changes to Puerto Rico’s travel guidelines following the decrease in positive COVID-19 cases on the island, indicates we’re moving in the right direction, as we continue our tourism industry’s recent momentum, which contributes to the economic development of the island,” Leah Chandler, Chief Marketing Officer of Discover Puerto Rico shared in a statement with T+L....

United Airlines has brought about 3,500 stranded Americans home after reinstating some of its canceled flights even as it cuts 90 percent of its scheduled flights due to the drop in demand amid the coronavirus pandemic. So far, the airline has operated 30 flights from Panama City, Quito, Lima, San Pedro Sula, Tegucigalpa and Roatan, with more than 20 more repatriation flights planned for this week, a United spokesman told Travel + Leisure....
