The city of Los Angeles will now require everyone in public to wear a face covering to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Mayor Eric Garcetti said this week. “We all have to recognize that we’re not moving beyond COVID-19 — we’re learning to live with it. That means taking every reasonable precaution, so we can continue taking careful steps forward to safely begin reopening the economy and getting some of our lives back,” Garcetti said in a statement....

Broadway fans will get chance to take a behind-the-scenes look at the world of theater when the new Museum of Broadway opens in New York City in 2020. The new immersive pop-up attraction will land in Times Square next year, featuring a range of exhibits that will take visitors through the history of Broadway from its start through present day. While details are still scarce, the museum will have exhibits that focus on three main aspects: the evolution of New York’s Theater District over the years, how Broadway shows are made, and the musicals that have become trailblazers throughout Broadway’s history....

The coronavirus pandemic may have created uncertainty for the travel industry and put a lot of plans on hold, but Australian carrier Qantas said it hasn’t given up on its “Project Sunrise,” an ultra-long nonstop flight from London and New York. “We still have Project Sunrise in the pipeline, which is our ability to fly from Sydney and Melbourne to the last horizon, the last tyranny of distance, direct into London, direct into the east coast of the United States,” Qantas CEO Alan Joyce told CNN....

Regent Seven Seas Cruises will re-debut its brand-new Seven Seas Splendor with sailings to the United Kingdom and the Mediterranean after the COVID-19 pandemic stymied plans for the ship last year. Seven Seas Splendor, which can accommodate 750 guests and includes all suites, will first sail from Southampton on an 11-night voyage on September 11, stopping in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Ireland, the cruise line shared with Travel + Leisure this week....

Ritz-Carlton’s cruising debut has been delayed once again. The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection was originally scheduled to make its inaugural voyage in January 2020. Due to a logistics issue, its first ship was not ready on time, and then just a few months after its first delay, the pandemic struck and sailings were delayed yet again. Now, the newest offshoot of the luxury brand has announced that it will not set sail until May 2022, due to “the ongoing impact of Covid-19, combined with related challenges created for construction operations in Europe,” a spokesperson for the collection told Travel + Leisure on Monday....

Two Taiwanese grandparents have gained international attention for their surprisingly fashionable Instagram account, originally only intended to keep them entertained while under quarantine. Chang Sho-Er and his wife Wan Ji own a laundromat in Taiwan’s coastal city of Taichung. For 70 years, they have run the laundromat without much fuss or celebrity. But during the coronavirus lockdown, business slowed down and their 31-year-old grandson, Reef Chang, decided to launch them an Instagram account....

There’s no better way to see the world than on two wheels. You don’t have to be a Tour de France winner in order to enjoy a long, scenic bike ride. Everywhere in the world — from the United States to France to Japan — you’ll find excellent bike tours that cater to beginner cyclists. And in the U.S., according to a new study, the best airport for travelers looking for deals is New York City’s John F. Kennedy International. Scott’s Cheap Flights, a subscription service for cheap flight alerts, analyzed the alerts sent to members in 2018 and found that JFK had the most frequent deals. Examples in the study include a $297 round-trip to Paris, a $555 to Sydney, and a $472 to Kuala Lumpur....

The innovative and uniquely-shaped Her0 Zero Emissions Passenger Plane could be the airplane of the future. One of the most popular attractions in France is open again — with a few small changes. The Palace of Versailles, located about an hour outside Paris, has been closed since March due to lockdown measures to combat the spread of coronavirus in the country. An adorable newborn white Bengal tiger cub just made its public debut at the Zoológico Nacional de Nicaragua. The newborn is named Nieves (meaning “Snow”) is just over a week old and is the first white Bengal tiger to be born in Nicaragua, , The BBC reported. Nieves is being raised by Marina Argüello, the wife of the zoo director, who helps rehabilitate animals. The cub was reportedly rejected by her mother, Dalia, a yellow-and-black Bengal tiger who was rescued from a circus five years ago and could not produce milk to feed the cub....

With 825 miles of accessible beaches and an average of more than 235 days of sunshine per year, it’s no surprise that Florida is top of mind for travelers looking for a domestic beach getaway. Case in point: Tripadvisor recently released its Top 10 Beaches in the U.S. for 2022, and Florida is prominently featured toward the top of the list. If you need to get to your destination on time, you shouldn’t treat every airline equally. Hawaiian Airlines has the highest on-time performance of any U.S. airline, according to the annual results of the Department of Transportation’s Air Travel Consumer Report. Last year, Hawaiian Airlines (and all its codeshare partner airlines) reported on-time arrivals for 87.5 percent of all its flights. The runner up, Delta Air Lines, reported 86.1 percent of last year’s flights arrived on time....
