Qatar’s Hamad International Airport has taken the spot of the best airport in the world in Skytrax Annual World Airport Awards — unseating Singapore Changi, which has won the award for the past eight consecutive years. The Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar opened in 2014 and has been rising in global airport rankings ever since. Last year, the airline and airport consulting firm that conducts the awards named Hamad the third best airport in the world but the COVID-19 pandemic helped bring out the best the airport had to offer....

In a country that routinely goes over the top in creativity, a new Japanese pop-up is having fun with face coverings, making them a more fashionable accessory and less a representation of all the things that went wrong in 2020. Carnival Cruise Line likely won’t sail at full capacity until 2022 — at the earliest — according to the company’s CEO. Carnival, which has extended its cancellation of future sailings and pushed back the inaugural journeys of new and renovated ships, is planning a phased restart over the coming months. “[The] nature of restart is going to be almost country by country and destination by destination,” Carnival’s CEO Arnold Donald said on a media call on Friday, according to USA Today, adding the company likely won’t see a return to full capacity for passengers until 2022....

The Las Vegas Sands, which owns several popular properties on the famous strip and around the world, is aiming to reassure visitors by partnering with an inspection company that will certify their resorts as clean and safe as Sin City gets ready to reopen next week. The inspection company, Bureau Veritas, will review safety and hygiene protocols, audit all Sands properties throughout the world, and once complete they will certify them with their “Safe Guard Hygiene Excellence and Safety Label,” a company representative exclusively shared with Travel + Leisure....

The Puerto Rican American actor, playwright, and composer has teamed up with Discover Puerto Rico to create a new, eight-episode series called “Discover Puerto Rico with Lin-Manuel Miranda” in which Miranda takes viewers on a tour of his favorite locations on the island, according to a statement by the tourism and travel site.
