The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) COVID-19 guidance for cruise ships will become optional this weekend, in spite of a recent rise in onboard cases, agency director Dr. Rochelle Walensky confirmed this week. Cruise ships will be able to set their own rules on board after the CDC’s Conditional Sail Order expires on Saturday. The order, which was extended in October 2021, was first implemented after the agency lifted its No Sail Order in October 2020....

As the world begins to slowly reopen to vaccinated travelers, Delta Air Lines announced it will launch direct flights to Iceland, one of the countries allowing those who have gotten the vaccine to visit, in May. Delta will launch daily direct flights between Boston’s Logan Airport and Iceland’s Keflavík International Airport on May 20. It will also resume its daily service to Iceland from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on May 1 and service from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport on May 27....

Scaffolding has been successfully removed from the roof of Paris’ Notre Dame more than a year after the historic cathedral caught fire, representing a critical step in its lengthy and arduous restoration process. Experts had worried the 200 tons of scaffolding may have melded to the cathedral during the fire, which broke out in April 2019, sparking fears it could potentially cause more damage to the structure when it was removed, The Associated Press Reported on Tuesday....

After an unexpected year of uncertainty, MSC Cruises has announced its Summer 2022 program, which includes 19 ships hitting the high seas for 83 unique trips to 47 countries. Five MSC ships will offer seven-night cruises around the Western Mediterranean.
