A national monument in Utah is offering to teach people to snowshoe with guided walks through a winter wonderland — with no cars in sight. Starting this weekend, experienced guides will escort novice snowshoers through Cedar Breaks National Monument with two walks each Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Park Service. The walks will be available through March. “Although the roads through the park are closed in the winter there are still a variety of ways to experience the rim environment of the park,” the NPS wrote in a statement....

Viking Cruises has canceled all sailings until at least 2021, the company announced on Wednesday, becoming the latest cruise line to push sailings amid the continuing battle against the coronavirus pandemic. Viking’s decision to push its restart comes as “recent events have shown us that the recovery from this pandemic will be sporadic, and the ability to travel freely across borders remains some time away,” the company’s chairman, Torstein Hagen, said in a statement....

Barcelona’s iconic La Sagrada Família basilica is one step closer to being finished, with the newest addition to one of its towers: a 12-point star that will soon illuminate the skies. Known as the star of Bethlehem, the massive glass and steel structure now sits atop the Virgin Mary tower of the famously unfinished basilica. As the number of people sickened and killed by coronavirus keeps climbing airports and airlines continue to take action to contain the deadly disease. Coronovirus, which originated in the city of Wuhan, China has resulted in 170 deaths as over 7,000 cases of the disease were confirmed on Thursday, according to The New York Times. Five cases have been confirmed in the U.S., and on Thursday, a close contact of one of the patients became infected with the virus....

In what has become a common effort among airlines, American has donated 25,000 meals through a partnership with local restaurants in Chicago and Washington, D.C. The airline teamed up with the LEE Initiative’s Restaurant Workers Relief Program to donate the meals that would have been served inflight. The LEE Initiative has turned local restaurants in cities across the country into relief centers offering to-go meals and other supplies for those in the restaurant industry and are currently out of work....

Avelo Airlines, the budget carrier which originally launched with regional service for west coast destinations, headed east on Wednesday with its inaugural flight out of New Haven, Conn. “Today’s first flight is a significant milestone for Avelo, HVN, and Southern Connecticut,” Avelo Chairman and CEO said ahead of the flight in a press release. “A new era of convenient and affordable air travel for the region is taking flight today.”...
