The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and Peninsula Papagayo plan to open Nekajui, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve Residence in 2024. Located in the northwestern region of Guanacaste, the 1,400-acre private gated community is already a posh playground with luxury villas, an incredible beach club, world-class hotels and dining, and an Arnold Palmer-designed golf course. Amtrak customers will now be able to bid for a better seat on future train trips, allowing them to upgrade to the company’s business class or Acela first class. The new service, called BidUp, will alert eligible customers with a push notification four days before their trip and invite them to bid on a new seat. Passengers can place, modify, or cancel a bid up to two hours before a scheduled departure....

Central Park’s famous ice skating rink is officially reopened. Wollman Rink, now being run by a coalition of New York businesses and organizations, including Equinox, the YMCA, and The Boys’ Club of New York, welcomed skaters back last week with a plethora of new offerings including a cafe and more. (Since 1986, the rink had been owned and operated by the Trump Organization.) The rink has also committed to “reinvesting in the community and the city” and operators will not be seeking or accepting any of the profit that comes from running Wollman Rink NYC, according to a press release....

Disney’s new era of family-friendly roller coasters is upon us. The pinnacle attraction at the brand new Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is meant to be for kids and parents alike. Similar to Magic Kingdom fan favorite Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Slinky Dog Dash has plenty of banked turns, dips and hills to keep things interesting. The ride is something coaster lovers will get a kick out of, but the emphasis on kid-friendliness makes it miraculously good for all ages....

Greece will scrap many remaining COVID-19-related protocols next week, making it the latest country to plan to revert to pre-pandemic life. Starting May 1, Greece will stop requiring travelers to show proof of vaccination, a negative test, or proof of recovery to enter the country, according to tourism company Visit Greece. Greece, which reopened its borders to tourism in May 2021, currently welcomes travelers from the United States but requires them to either show proof of vaccination (with a booster shot if it has been more than 9 months since the final dose of their initial vaccine series); show proof they have contracted COVID-19 and recovered within 6 months; or show proof of a negative COVID-19 test (either a PCR test taken within 72 hours of their arrival or a rapid antigen test taken within 24 hours of their arrival)....
