ARTECHOUSE, a digital art center with locations in Washington, DC, New York City, and Miami Beach, opened its 2021 season in New York City with an imaginative and immersive audiovisual art installation on March 1. Created by Dutch visual artist Julius Horsthuis, “Geometric Properties” intersects the worlds of art, science, and technology by immersing visitors into a hypnotic journal of fractals and geometric patterns....

Avelo Airlines is adding several new nonstop flights between Connecticut’s Tweed New Haven Regional Airport and a collection of popular vacation destinations including Myrtle Beach, Charleston, and Nashville. “Our customers are telling us they would love for Avelo to fly to more places beyond Florida. These four new routes show we’re listening,” Avelo CEO Andrew Levy said in a statement announcing the service expansion starting in May. In Tulsa we love to lay claim to an exceptional Black man. John Hope Franklin was such a man, even if he wasn’t born in Tulsa and was barely of it. For some, Franklin is the finest person Tulsa has ever produced. He graduated from the city’s then-segregated Booker T. Washington High School, as class valedictorian, at age 16 in 1931, and is the first Black person to earn a full professorship at a predominantly white university (Brooklyn College, where he was chair of the history department)....

Utah is getting two new state parks — and one of them comes with a serious roar. Utahraptor State Park, named for the state’s dinosaur, and Lost Creek State Park, around the Morgan County reservoir, will officially become the state’s 45th and 46th state parks, as Governor Spencer Cox signed a bill designating $37 million to establish them earlier this month, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. Located about 15 miles north of Moab, Utahraptor State Park will be in the Dalton Wells area in Grand County, where the dinosaur fossils were first found in 1975, according to The Spectrum....

A few months ago, I traveled to Sacramento to run a marathon. I booked myself a cozy and quiet Airbnb and arrived two days early so I had time to settle in before actually running my race. When parents-to-be, Hunter and Kelly Welborn, began their process to adopt a baby boy, little did they know that their literal journey would be just as memorable. Over three years ago, the Welborns got the news that they were a match to become mom and dad to baby boy, Beau, born in South Korea. The first step in the reopening of Walt Disney World is now underway. Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida began a phased reopening on May 20 after the resort closed in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting this week, select third-party restaurants and shops will be open, and on May 27, some Disney-owned stores and restaurants will also reopen.
