Beginning Friday, international visitors heading to the Cayman Islands will have to test negative for COVID-19 the day before their departure, a move aimed at slowing the spread of the highly contagious omicron variant of the coronavirus. Previously, Cayman Islands required fully vaccinated travelers to test negative within 72 hours of their departure to the islands. With the change, government officials said they also would broaden the types of COVID tests accepted to include rapid antigen tests instead of just a PCR test, which generally takes longer to process....

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is advising unvaccinated Americans to avoid travel ahead of the Labor Day holiday weekend as cases in the United States continue to rise. “First and foremost, if you are unvaccinated, we would recommend not traveling,” CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky told reporters at a media briefing on Tuesday. The warning comes as the country continues to see cases rise and the highly-contagious delta variant continue to spread....

With more than 1,100 aircraft equipped with Wi-Fi, Delta Air Lines is one of the world’s largest providers of in-flight Internet. The fleet’s Wi-Fi is powered by Gogo, and is offered on nearly all Delta flights. Like several other major airlines equipped by Gogo, access to Delta’s Wi-Fi may be purchased before any given flight. Delta Wi-Fi passes start at $16 for a 24-hour domestic day pass (valid on Gogo-equipped flights in North America)....

Frontier Airlines is making Delaware the state to be in for 2020. On Tuesday, the Denver-based airline announced it will bring back service to Wilmington’s New Castle Airport (ILG). Its return will include nonstop service to Orlando starting in May. The start date, Frontier explained, was a strategic decision to ensure ample flights for the summer travel season. “We’re thrilled to bring our unique brand of low fares and friendly service to Wilmington – New Castle Airport and offer the only commercial service from Delaware,” Daniel Shurz, senior vice president of commercial operations for Frontier Airlines, shared in a statement....

The Kilauea volcano in Hawaii, one of the most active volcanoes in the world, has been erupting on Wednesday with a spectacular display of lava and smoke. Activity is confined to a crater within the closed area of Kīlauea’s summit, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed Thursday morning. Hawaii’s Volcanoes National Park remains open for visitors at this time. “All signs indicate that it will stay within the crater,” Ken Hon, the USGS scientist in charge of Hawaii Volcano Observatory, told the Associated Press....

After only six weeks of lockdown due to the coronavirus, Iceland will start to welcome visitors on June 15. Anyone arriving in the country will have to take a COVID-19 test or agree to quarantine for two weeks, according to Reuters. “Iceland’s strategy of large-scale testing, tracing and isolating have proven effective so far,” Tourism Minister Thordis Kolbrun Reykfjord Gylfadottir said in a statement to the wire. Instead of agreeing to take a coronavirus test or immediately quarantine, visitors can present documentation of a clean bill of health from their home country....

In May, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, invited photographers from all over the United kingdom to photograph life in the time of coronavirus. The photos, she explained in the spring, would be used as part of her partnership with the National Portrait Gallery and a new photography competition called “Hold Still.” And now, the votes are in, the photos are up, and you can view the winners online. “We were overwhelmed by the public’s response to the project and the number and range of extraordinary images we received,” the gallery explained on its website....

Sin City is bringing back another one of its signature features. Starting midnight on Sunday, bars and lounges will be allowed to reopen, albeit at half capacity in adherence with the city’s COVID-19 safety protocols. Pubs, taverns, breweries, distilleries, and wineries are also included in this new set of rules, while resorts, hotels, and casinos got the thumbs up to reopen months ago. Both employees and visitors will be required to wear face coverings indoors, and venues are expected to maintain social distancing between its patrons....
