Canada will require all air and cruise passengers to be fully vaccinated before traveling as soon as this fall, marking a crucial milestone in the country’s effort to restart normal travel operations. All employees in federally regulated air, rail, and marine transportation positions will be required to be vaccinated by the end of October at the latest, according to the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat. That will then be extended to all commercial air passengers, travelers on interprovincial trains, and passengers on cruises....

Chicago’s Navy Pier is finally getting its first hotel. On Thursday, March 18, Sable at Navy Pier, the 100th property in the Curio Collection by Hilton, will officially open its doors to the public, ushering in a new era of hospitality for the famed attraction. “I could not be more thrilled to be at the helm of such a unique and monumental hotel. Not only is this exciting news for many ‘90s kids who grew up watching the show, Deadline reported that Rachel Bloom and Adam Schlesinger (of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) are also slated to write the music for the new Broadway show....

Los Angeles is joining cities across the country in requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination for entry into social venues like restaurants, bars, museums, and nightclubs. Starting Nov. 4, guests 12 and older, as well as employees of the establishments, will be required to show proof of vaccination. “Vaccinating more Angelenos is our only way out of this pandemic, and we must do everything in our power to keep pushing those numbers up,” the city’s Mayor Eric Garcetti said on Wednesday after signing the rule into a law....

Auberge Resorts Collection opened a new hotel today on a working ranch in Napa, California: Stanly Ranch. The long-awaited property joins the ranks as the third Auberge hotel in Napa Valley — alongside Auberge du Soleil, the brand’s very first outpost, which opened in the ’80s, and Solage, Auberge Resorts Collection, in Calistoga, California. The final Auberge property in Napa, Calistoga Ranch, shuttered in 2020 because of significant wildfire damage. The brand’s long history in Napa Valley, coupled with the sting of closing the beloved Calistoga Ranch, makes the opening of Stanly Ranch that much sweeter....

A dozen bottles of French Bordeaux wine returned to Earth this week after spending over a year aging in space. But the wine, that was at the International Space Station, wasn’t a treat for astronauts. In November 2019, SpaceX launched the bottles of wine along with 320 merlot and cabernet sauvignon vine snippets into space for an experiment by the start-up Space Cargo Unlimited. The bottles and snippets spent about a year at the ISS orbiting the Earth while they aged....

Divers in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula say they have discovered the world’s largest underwater cave. Underwater archaeologists discovered last week that the cave system known as Sac Actun, located near the beach town of Tulum, completely connects underwater to form a 216-mile-long cave. The Gran Acuifero Maya (GAM), the organization behind the cave’s exploration, has been diving through the underwater network for the past 10 months. They discovered that more than 200 small caves connect underwater to form what they believe to be the world’s largest underwater cave....
